The Main Street Enhancement Committee reconvened on April 14th to discuss the next steps in the enhancement agenda. Below is a brief summary of what was discussed.
- Since the committee last met Mary Jane Dower spoke with the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Fred Monroe about making improvements to the gateway into the Chester business district. In the next coming weeks the committee will examine a few design concepts for the gateway.
- John Behan from Behan Planning and Design has volunteered to write a community survey for the town. The community survey will not focus only on main street in Chester, but will include questions about housing, parks and recreation, and our hamlets.
- Mary Jane Dower announced a clean-up day for main street on May 15th. Please come out and help your community. Don't forget to bring your rake.
- On May 5th the Community Fund for the Gore Mountain Region will be holding a grant writing application seminar at the Copperfield In in North Creek. If interested in attending call 254-5751.
