Starting this group as it would be great for out-of-towners
I live in the Tidewater region of Virginia. Accordingly, I know where there are good hiking and camping trails within this area. [Truthfully, there aren't many -- we have to travel to the Shenandoah Valley for access to good, mountainous places locations.] As I grew up in New England, it made me think that I'd greatly enjoy re-visiting your region on such an excursion especially if I had some local knowledge.
But, where to go? I thought of Connect; if a small group of folks from your area might be willing to share some ideas, pictures, stories or maps, it would greatly advantage out-of-towners like myself who want to visit and bring along some gear. And our out-of-town dollars. Granted, in this economy there are fewer of them, but a buck's a buck.
So, I'm looking forward to what you Adirondack'ites might share in this group for when I plan my visit.
