I've been living in Virginia for the last 20 years, and before that another almost 20 years roaming around the country and the world as a US Navy sailor.

But I grew up first in Brooklyn and then Long Island, and spent a lot of my summertime as a boy up in the mountains upstate. Later I went to college, so long ago it's scary, in the Finger Lakes region at Hobart College. I have some amazing memories of summers in the Adirondacks and of my all too brief time in Geneva.

I find I'm having memories and thinking thoughts I hadn't had in years. Many years!

I bet there's lots of folks like me who spent time in the Adirondacks as youngsters and remember.

I'd like to thank this community for allowing me to remember; it may very well motivate me to bring my kids up to see you one of these days so they can remember the beauty and the great people when they are my age.

I think this is the power of your community. First, it's yours to share with each other, but it's also yours to share with people like me: the  "unofficial" members.

Thanks for sharing and see you soon :)
